About

1979-1986, India:

I studied under the tutelage of gurus, Somnath Hore, K G Subramanyam, Sanat Kar, Lalu Lalu Prasad Shaw at Viswa Bharati University, a bohemian melting pot of cultural and creative exchange between the East and the West; an ashram established by the visionary artist, poet and Noble Prize winner Rabindranath Tagore.

I am a curator, teacher and mentor within the visual arts. My artistic practice is informed and inspired by human interactions between itself and the world, the multitude of myths, legends, heroes and stories that have been echoed globally. The spirit that traverses many worlds where the archetypal figures seek a dialogue within a public and personal mythology. The artists and thinkers that have inspired and provoked my sense of beauty and thinking are Frida Kahlo, Michelangelo, William Blake, Marc Chagall, Somnath Hore, K G Subramanyan, Joseph Campbell and Jung, among others.

Vital are the green and fertile land and the ancient rock temples of Assam that fed a sense of spirituality and mysticism that excited and intrigued a young mind. Still learning to connect the dots between the seen and the unseen: the matrix. Physical matter alone does not exist, everything is the field. Tat tvam asi, ‘thou art that’.

I work intuitively guided by internal necessity.
